Cary Imps win Conference Crown
Cary News has reported that Cary High School has won the conference crown. See the article in the Cary News. The hard work and dedication has paid off with a conference title but remember it is just one part of the season. More great things to come!
Louisburg Duals
Cary varsity wrestlers took on 3 opponents (Person County, Wake Forest-Rolesville and Louisburg) at the Louisburg Duals. Great job in winning all three duals.
Cary JV Wins Catamount Challenge
From Coach Winterton:
Ronnie Winterton, Austin Hobson, Coach Sichak, coached the JV's to a winning performance at the Catamount Challenge tournament over 10 teams today @ Panther Creek. Cary won over Holly Springs, Panther Creek, Jordan, Gibbons, Wakefield, Heritage HS, Northwoods, Athens Drive, Green Hope and others in the individual style tourney.
Cary had several JV's in the 5th-6th area with many winning multiple matches before losing two. Placing fourth were: Tony Taylor and Drew Harrilchak while third placers were Sakar Basnet and Ben Cranfill. Making the finals were Duy Pham, Jacob Stewart, Khalil Abdul and Austin Archibald. All four came away with championships! Two pinned while Jacob Stewart finished with a major decision and Austin Archibald brought home the team victory scoring a takedown in the last six seconds to ice the victory for the Imps. Congrats to all. All had very tough final matches with both Khalil and Duy coming from behind to score pins.
The JV's were also a class act and lead by their coaches & Austin, Khalil, all followed the final matches by being at the matside of each final and consolation final! It was a dual meet finish for each winner and loser with the team lined up for high-fives just like the varsity does. Nice to see.
It was a priviledge for me to observe this group all day. Thanks guys, Coach
Green Hope Dual - Senior Night
The Cary Imps, led by their 3 senior captains, defeated Green Hope 61 - 9. Great job Cary Wrestlers!
Boneyard Bash
Once again, the Boneyard Bash proved to be two days of tough competition. Cary had a solid start. On Friday night, every wrestler won their first match and advanced to the champion side of the bracket. Saturday brought many tough matches for the team, and we suffered some difficult losses. Our Seniors lead the team in to the finals with Adam Kugler, John Blackwell, and Bo Mulligan progressing to the championship match. Congratulations to Adam Kugler for winning the championship at 152 lbs! Those taking home medals:
Full results can be found at Track Wrestling.
Our JV wrestlers came down to take part in gaining additional mat time, and increasing their wrestling skills and knowledge. It was great to see the strong presence that Cary had with the whole team at the tournament.
Panther Creek Dual
Cary defeated Panther Creek 40-28. The Imps are now 19-0 in dual matches this season. Great job to all Cary wrestlers. The Imps were behind 25-12 with only 6 matches remaining. The six remaining wrestlers turned it on and put Cary back in control. Corey Daniels, Ryan Foran and Adam Kugler provided victories for the Imps. In addition, Cary got pins from Alex Ynoquio, Mark Mulligan, Bo Mulligan, Franklin McNamara and Travis Bach to help the Imps secure the victory.
